Kpop Concert Issues + A Mamamoo Case Study

A huge issue right now is how stupid companies are with planning tours. Tell me why literally every group has chosen to go on tour this year. Kpop concert tickets are so unreasonably expensive compared to other artists that they are forcing people to pick and choose which concerts they want to go to. Why don’t companies bother to see who else is touring at the same time? Smaller groups are absolutely going to be outcompeted when you have BTS’s reunion tour, and Aepsa’s tour going on at the same time. Tickets are just not selling, and it’s forcing groups to cancel tours. Ex. Idle cancelled their North American Tour.
There are also issues with venues and concert locations. I’ll be using this as an opportunity to rant about Mamamoo’s upcoming tour. They booked all arenas, and for some reason decided to perform in Texas twice. Texas?!?!!. Clearly whoever at RBW who decided that that was a good idea was tripping, because why Texas!? Its understandable why they decided to do two stops in California. They seem to be the only wells selling well, but Texas was not the place to have second date. They could have instead gone somewhere like DC, or if they were basing the tour dates off of MYCON, why not have a second date in Chicago?. Anyways, the biggest issue is that they decided to book all arenas instead of theaters. I understand why they did this since they pretty much sold out everywhere during MYCON, but RBW should have accounted for the hiatus when booking venues. They really thought that after three years with no group activity, they could have insane ticket prices, and just actually sell out? No! While in South Korea they may still be very well known, the international fanbase had basically gone into hibernation. Genuinely ticket sales were so bad the first week because nobody even knew that they were going on tour. The only people who bought tickets when they first came out were die hard fans who are still actively following them. While still not great, ticket sales are slightly better now. They really should have just waited until after their comeback to announce the tour. The second issue is with ticket prices. They’ve dropped so much since ticket sales first opened. Why didn’t they just have the current ticket prices as the original price? They probably would have sold a lot better when they first dropped.
