This is going to be a very brief guide of Aespa’s story up until now.

ae-aespa: Aepsa's virtual counterparts

Part 1: “Black Mamba” - “Girls”

The girls live in a world where everyone has an “ae” version of themselves, which is the personification of their digital data. The aes live in kWANGYA, a boundless space that often comes up in other SM storylines. Despite not living in the physical realm, they are able to connect with their human counterparts.

Black Mama is first introduced in the “Black Mamba” MV, and further explored in the first SMCU season, which follows the first part of their story. Black Mamba is the villain of the first part of the story, as she seeks to destroy the connection between aes and humans called SYNKOUT. So, Naevis, an AI being who lives in the FLAT, a space between KWANGYA and the REAL WORLD, recruits the girls to stop Black Mamba and restore the connection that allows aes to connect with the REAL WORLD. The members each have special skills (explained in “aenergy” “Karina rocket puncher, Winter armamenter Giselle got xenoglossy, Ningning ED Hacker”) which they utilize throughout the SMCU episodes.

In the end, Aespa is able to defeat Black Mamba with the help of Naevis. However, in doing so, Naevis disobeyed the KOSMOS by leaving the FLAT to help Aespa defeat Black Mamba.

Earlier in the story, we find out that Naevis was banished to the FLAT after not fulfilling a prophecy of killing a child that was the “seed of evil”. However, because Naevis now helped Aespa defeat Black Mamba, instead of going back to the FLAT, she goes to the REAL WORLD.

Part 2: “Spicy” - current

Taking place after Black Mamba’s defeat, the digital world and the REAL WORLD are colliding. This causes the glitches seen throughout the “Spicy” MV and promotional material. The collision of multiple realities is enhanced during “Supernova” where a completely new version of Aespa with super abilities (Karina has superstrength, Winter can fly, Nigning can create fire, and Giselle can control time) is also colliding with the REAL WORLD, marking the start of “Armagedon”. These new versions of Aespa are likely part human and part AI. Superbeings from different realities are also introduced during “Armagedon” where Aespa are faced with different versions of themselves that are beginning to merge with the REAL WORLD members. These new renditions of Aespa are a combinations of the different versions that are further seen in “Wiplash”.
